When she was a pro at dancing and modeling, she decided to give acting a try and began taking acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell was offered a few commercials as well as guest spots in a television show. Her biggest break came when she was cast as Emily Fields. Critics and fans praised her acting skills. Mitchell is the cousin of Lea Salonga, the renowned musical theater actor and singer. Mitchell was a student at Rockridge Secondary School before moving onto West Vancouver Secondary. By her late teenage years, she had modeled for several companies around the world. After a trip to Barcelona, Bangkok and Hong Kong she returned to Toronto and studied acting.
